We’re finally here! It’s so exciting to finally be able to invite you to download daisie. The idea that we had almost 2 years ago has finally become a reality, launch seemed so long away for so far, and now the day is upon us.
daisie was put together by a team of 6: Dom, Maisie, Tim, Reuben, Dominique and Valentina - A small, but hugely passionate group of people who genuinely care about the future of creatives. We worked hard to create a product that we hope a lot of people will really care about, and adopt into their everyday lives. The journey to get there was an atypical one, we built our original office, designed an app with no designers and relied on our community to entrust an idea of this scale to a team more aptly sized to take part in a 5-a-side football match than to build a social media platform.
As of today, August 1st, daisie is available worldwide on the App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/daisie/id1406427065?ls=1&mt=8
The core of daisie is in the hands of the people that use it, the content that’s uploaded, connections made, the feedback given, experience shared, work created - Our community is fundamental to the future of the app, as well as the present. We want you all to find and discover one another, build your contact pools and start to form communities and friendships. Celebrate the experience of daisie, and be a part of our shared vision to establish one destination for creative collaboration.
Add your past, current and future projects. You can add images, text and links to projects that may exist elsewhere online, but we want to see the steps you took to get there. Use blocks to show the development of your project; from the original concept to the established final piece. You can add collaborators at any stage, enabling them to also add content blocks; exposing a different viewpoint and showing the team’s involvement.
We want moodboards, half finished pieces of art, prototypes, anything your brain conjured up whilst nurturing your films, songs, art, photographs, stories, garments into fruition. If it inspired you, it will inspire others. We’re living in a very exciting period of time where our potential is only limited by our thoughts. We are more connected than ever, and have access to incredibly powerful programs that create change.
Creative industries are fluid in their nature; film influences music, art influences photography - everything is connected and everyone has the opportunity to harness the different creative mediums to propel their careers. The ability to be inspired by something from one medium and not have the fear to combine it with another is an incredibly liberating prospect. We hope that the introduction of chain and explore will enable and encourage this connectivity. Our industries were specifically chosen; they are raw forms of communication that can benefit one another. We hope that creators of all styles and industries will be empowered to collaborate with people from every corner of the world, and find the inspiration to reach out of their comfort zone and work on projects that may be new to them, or that may not fit into their canon of work.
Please be aware the app is only available on iOS for now, but Android users will be invited at a later stage. If you’re an Android user, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the title “Android Release” - we’ll make sure you’re the first to know once we’re ready for Android testers. We are expecting an influx of users, so we’ve set certain parameters in place that enable us to grow organically. We anticipate that everyone who downloads daisie in the first week will be on the app with an account and profile within the month. It’s important to us not to grow too quickly, and to make sure that people understand how and why to use and adopt daisie; we have brand new features like ‘Question Times’, ‘Shared Projects’ and ‘Chains’ that have a slight learning curve; so we want to pay attention to every user and ensure that the experience is fulfilling and engaging. It’s also important that the content being shared and the collaborations made on daisie are relevant and industry specific.
We want you to be a part of the transition into our full vision, so please be patient and understanding as we work towards our eventual goal of fully open-source collaboration across industries. This is our first step in a long and meandering journey; so we’re excited to finally be able to show you what we’ve been spending all this time on.
It’s a big moment for everyone at daisie, and we really cannot wait to see all of your work and collaborations expressed on our platform. Please do reach out to the team’s accounts (@dom, @maisie, @tim, @reuben, @dominique, @valentina) with any questions, queries or advise. We’ll be on hand to help! If you have any issues with the app, head to the ‘help centre’ or email us at: email@example.com.
We’ll see you on daisie!
