You’ve been at daisie for over 3 months now. What is it like to work here?
It’s brilliantly busy! There’s so much going on right now, and so many exciting projects in the pipeline. I’m loving being part of the brilliant frontend-engineering team with Tim and Emma!
Take us through a ‘day in the life’ of Trys
I commute up from Sussex so it begins with a very early and cold train! I’m in the office by 8:30 where I consume coffee and porridge. Engineering stand-up is at 9.45, then it’s solid coding till lunch. Pasta is usually on the lunch menu, and it’s back to work till 5. If I get a table, I’ll work on neat design touches on the train home. Evenings are often spent working on side projects, or reading tech blogs.
What have you learnt since joining daisie?
So, so much. For one, this is my first major React project, before daisie I worked a lot in Vue.js. It’s also great working with such a precise and thoughtful design team.
I’d been at my previous role for 6 years, so it was a big move coming up to London to join the daisie team. I was really attracted by the core vision and goals of daisie, they align well with me. The opportunity to help build the web presence for a community of this scale was also really appealing.
What do you do in your spare time?
I play electric guitar, and watch the odd box set. But I do spent a lot of spare time building fun web things - I just love the web!
What excites you about daisie?
I’m really excited to see how communities will form on daisie, how we can help foster them, and provide tools to help create incredible work.
Why did you become a developer?
I’m not totally sure to be honest! After completing a college IT course, I sort of stumbled into web development - and haven’t looked back since!
What’s your favourite feature to daisie?
There are some amazing features in our web project that I can’t wait for the world to see - but I’m not able to talk about them just yet!
